Summer Training Camp Great Success
Dungarvan Karate Club held its annual summer training camp at Clonea Strand Co. Waterford on June 25th and 26th last and we are delighted to report that the event was a great success with the numbers well up on last year. Clubs from all over the country were well represented and it was fantastic to see alot of new faces in addition to our regular stallwarts. We were blessed with the weather and were able to hold all the sessions on the beach. I.J.K.A. world chief instructor kancho S.Kato 9th Dan hosted the event and the great master once again enthralled all present with his skill and devotion to the sport. Congratulations to Ross Daly and Joe Hunter who received their 3rd and 4th dan blackbelts, well done lads. Thanks to all who travelled to the camp and to everybody who helped to make it such a great success.
Sensei Jess Pablo held a Kombatan class in the club dojo last week and was very impressed by the standard being reached by our senior members, the next class will be on Tuesday July 19th at 9pm.
On Saturday next July 9th Fermoy Karate Club will be sending representatives to a special Sports Ability Day which is being held at The Cork Institute of Technology from 12pm to 3pm. This event allows people with special needs to try out various sports and improve their existing skills.
We would like to remind parents that the club will remain open over the school holidays and training times are as follows : junior beginners 7pm on Thursday, juniors all grades 8pm Tuesday and Thursday, seniors all grades 9pm Tuesday and Thursday. An advanced kata class is held at 11am on Sunday. All classes take place in our dojo which is located on the Mallow road next to the Texaco filling station. New members always welcome.
